Boylan Catholic High School honored one of its late students Saturday by dedicating the David McCarthy Baseball Field. David McCarthy graduated from Boylan in 1985. He led the baseball team in hits and RBI’s and was named most valuable player in both baseball and football his senior year. Current Boylan families along with McCarthy’s family, friends, and former teammates from six different states gathered at the high school today for the dedication. Only two players from the 1985 Boylan Baseball team were unable to attend Saturday’s ceremony. Although McCarthy was killed in a boating accident at only eighteen years old, his legacy has lived on for decades. Now, it will continue to live on at Boylan forever. The dedication was made possible by an anonymous gift donation to the school's Imagine Campaign.
