ROCKFORD-Is Ted Dent's tenure with the IceHogs nearing an end? He's being mentioned by media in Toronto as a potential candidate to join the coaching staff of the NHL's Toronto Maple Leafs as an assistant under head coach Randy Carlyle.

Those two men were together with the Washington Capitols back when Dent was the video coordinator there. That was before he joined the IceHogs and their AHL predecessor in Norfolk.

Dent has been the IceHogs head coach for three seasons. The Hogs failed to make the playoffs in any of those, but NHL teams like the way he has helped develop young talent in Rockford for the Blackhawks.
