Local Golfers Take Swings At State Amateur

BLOOMINGTON-Three local golfers have made the championship flight of the Illinois State Women's Amateur golf championship. Cynthia Bounleutay, Hui Chong Dofflemyer, and Melissa VanSistine posted solid qualifying rounds at the Crestwicke Country Club Monday.

Bounleutay and Dofflemyer each shot a 78. That tied them for sixth place. VanSistine shot an 82 to tie for 19th. They'll begin match play Wednesday.

Madasyn Pettersen of Rockford shot a 90 to tie for 54th. Allison Graceffa shot a 91 to tie for 57th. They both make the third flight.

Arisa Thammaavongsa of Rockford shot a 97. She is in the fourth flight.

The medalist Tuesday was Alexandra Harkins of Crystal Lake. She shot a 74.
