ROCHELLE - Stateliners rally around a local food pantry after the majority of their food is stolen.

Last month, thieves stole 13 freezers worth of meat and three pallets of dry food from the Hand-in-Hand food pantry in Rochelle. The pantry thought it may have to close its doors, but after word got out about the theft, donations poured in.

Hand-in-Hand Outreach Coordinator Vicki Pemberton says she's overwhelmed by people's generosity.

"Well, we get a few people coming to tears. Because it's nice to see that even though people don't have anythng, they're still willing to help people that don't have anything."

Hand-in-Hand served 900 individuals and over 280 families last month.
