Belvidere Man Charged In November Murder

BELVIDERE - A local man is charged with the murder of a teenager.

UPDATE (12/11/13): Boone County State's Attorney Michelle Courier says Ricardo Garcia, 20, is charged with two counts of 1st degree murder.  He'll appear in court Wednesday afternoon.  His bond is currently set at $2 million.

BELVIDERE- Around 12:25 A.M. Saturday Giovanni Galicia, 18, was shot in a car in the 2100 block of Lakeshore Drive.

Shortly after the shooting incident, Boone County Sheriff's Police attempted to stop a vehicle matching the suspect's vehicle.

Officers chased the suspect vehicle into Winnebago County before it stopped in the area of Perryville and Spring Creek Roads in Rockford.

Three people were taken into police custody. One of those subjects, who was shot in the leg by a Boone County Sheriff’s Deputy was transported to a local hospital and is in stable condition. A fourth person fled the scene.

Anthony Perez, 19, charged first degree murder turned himself into police Saturday afternoon.

Known gang member of Belvidere Ricardo Figueroa, 22, was charged with unlawful use of a weapon. Figueroa is being held in the Boone County jail.

Cheyanne Patton, 20, was arrested on unrelated warrants from Kane and DeKalb counties.
