Braun Suspended 7/22/13

<br>Brewers slugger Ryan Braun has been suspended for the remainder of the season.
Milwaukee, Wisconsin-Brewers slugger Ryan Braun denied a year ago that he used performance enhancing drugs. He's not denying it any more.

Monday Braun was suspended without pay for the remainder of the season by MLB for PED use. Braun will not appeal the suspension.

In a statement released Monday Braun said, "I am not perfect. I realize now I made some mistakes. I am willing to accept the consequences of those actions."

Braun also apologized to the fans and to the Brewers organization.

In 2011 Braun was the National League MVP. In 2012 he hit 41 homers.

Brewers General Manager Doug Melvin sounded relieved Monday to have this matter settled.

"As a GM I'm somewhat happy that this is over with, so that we can move forward. I talked to Ryan earlier on. I know he's addressed the players."  "Obviously I"m very disapponted," continued Melvin "in that he's a very important player to our organization and to the ballclub. To our performance on the field."
