Candice King - First Warn Chief Meteorologist

Candice King is no stranger to the Stateline.  Raised just outside of Freeport, on a dairy farm in Ridott, she is very familiar with how quickly weather can change in the Midwest.  Candice has always had an interest in weather ever since she was a little girl.  She wondered why it would rain on one day and not the next.  This curiosity quickly grew into a passion that would soon lead to her career.

After graduating from Freeport Senior High School, she attended Highland Community College where she received her Associate of Science degree.  From there she went to Northern Illinois University and graduated in May 2004 with her Bachelor of Science in Meteorology degree.  She then received her Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Certificate the following year.  Shortly after, she began working as the Weekend Meteorologist at the NBC station in Rockford.  After having her daughter in 2007, Candice decided to take a little break from broadcasting to stay home and raise her little one.  But, she quickly began to miss the weather and is now happy to be a part of the WTVO Morning News Team.

When Candice isn't in the Storm Center she loves spending time with her family, trying to cook a "home cooked meal" or just watching a good-old football game.
