ROCKFORD - A prominent leader of the Catholic Church stopped in Rockford Thursday night.

Cardinal Francis George, the Archbishop of Chicago's Archdicese, reflected tonight on the Year of Faith. It began last year under Pope Emeritus Benedict.

It calls on its faithful to return to their Christian roots and deepen their relationship with God.

Bishop David Malloy of the Diocese of Rockford explains.

"It's an opportunity throughout the year for us to remind ourselves, first of all what we believe as Catholics, how close we get to be with Jesus Christ in the litergy and going to mass, and finally our witness by helping out with the poor and the needy which we've done at everyone of these kinds of talks throughout the year."

The Year of Faith will officially conclude in the Rockford Diocese this Sunday. It'll be celebrated by Bishop Malloy at the Cathedral of St. Peter at 11 AM.
