WTVO/WQRF - In the wake of a documentary questioning the safety and humanity of Seaworld keeping killer whales in captivity, Rockford's own Cheap Trick is pulling out of the water park's concert.
Other artists canceling their appearances in a show of protest include Trace Adkins, Trisha Yearwood, Willie Nelson, Heart, Barenaked Ladies, Martina McBride, and 38 Special.
"We're disappointed a small group of misinformed individuals was able to deny fans what would have been great concerts" says a spokesperson from Seaworld.
They were supposed to perform for Seaworld's "Bands, Blues, and BBQ" in February and March. But, the release of "Blackfish", a documentary telling the story of an orca killing a Seaworld trainer in 2010, is making the musicians think twice.
Of the original list of acts scheduled to perform only Justin Moore and Scotty McCreery remain.
