Child Killed In Car Accident Identified

ROCKFORD - Investigators have released the name of the 6 year-old boy who was accidentally killed by his mother.
UPDATE (9/27/13, 2:03pm): The boy has been identified as Yamiko Key.  An autopsy confirmed he died from blunt force trauma to the head.  The case remains under investigation by the Rockford Police Department.

UPDATE - The six-year-old boy was accidentally ran over by his 50-year-old mother.

Police say the little boy ran over to the vehicle which was in the driveway and was standing in the open door. That's when his mothers foot came off the brake pedal, sending the vehicle into reverse. The child was knocked to the ground by the door and under the vehicle. The vehicle then drove over the top of the him.

ROCKFORD- A six-year-old boy is killed after being hit by a car on the city's southeast side.

It happened around 5pm, Thursday in the 400 block of Chicago Avenue.

Police aren't saying much at this point, but they say the little boy was taken to the hospital where he later died. The accident is still under investigation.
