Christian Life Preview 8/13/12

Tony Ambrogio is now in charge of the Christian Life football program.
Rockford, Illinois-Anthony Ambrogio is only the second head coach in the 15 year history of football at Christian Life. He's been an assistant at the school the past seven years. But He's implementing his own ideas now. The biggest change is the Eagles have switched from the wishbone to the pistol spread offense.

"We feel like this is a good fit for us. We're going to go a bit wider. We'll still have an option run game up front, but we're going to give our quarterback time to throw the ball," said Ambrogio.

Two words best describe the Eagles this year...young and fast.

"We've got some kids that went to the Junior Olympics this year. We feel like we can make a difference out here with speed," said Ambrogio.

The players are embracing the changes.

"Everything is different," said fourth year starting lineman Ryan Gowins. "Our offense is completely different. Our defense is completely different, so everything is new to us. Our team this year is built more on speed. Everything is going to be faster, more quick with the spread offense."

The Eagles graduated most of their skill players from last year...guys like Riyan Nied, Jamar Ellis and Jeff Polseon. So they'll be young in the backfield. Their quarterback will be a sophomore Brady Pond. Fortunately the Eagles strength is an experience group of stout linemen which include four-year starters Ryan Gowins and Austin Forrester.
