Cold Shelters Set Up Throughout Rock County

WTVO/WQRF - With sub-freezing temperatures and extreme wind chills, warming shelters have been setup across southern Wisconsin

The Rock County Sheriff's Office is working with the American Red Cross, St. John's Lutheran Church of Beloit, and The Overflowing Cup of Beloit to provide daytime/overnight warming facilities for those in need.  Janesville residents can continue using local shelters.

Below is a list of shelters available:

Beloit

  • St. John's Lutheran Church, 1000 Bluff St. - 7pm-8am
  • The Overflowing Cup, 310 State St. - 8am-7pm
  • The Sparrows Nest, 1816 Harrison Ave. - After 5pm only

Janesville

  • House of Mercy, 320 W. Lincoln St. - Must register by 6pm, women, children, and families only
  • The Shelter, 407 W. Van Buren St. - Men only - 7am-6pm
  • GIFTS Men's Shelter, 514 Sutherland Ave. - Men only - Overnight
