Bears Sign Safety Mundy

The Bears have signed former Giants safety Ryan Mundy.
LAKE FOREST, IL – The Chicago Bears have agreed to terms with S Ryan Mundy on a two-year contract.

The 6-1, 209-pound Mundy has started 14 of 80 games played over five seasons with Pittsburgh (2009-12) and the New York Giants (2013), collecting 143 tackles, two interceptions, 10 pass break-ups, three fumble recoveries, five tackles for losses and one sack. He has added 64 special teams tackles which are tied for third in the NFL since he joined the league in 2009.

In 2013, Mundy set career highs in games started (nine), tackles (70) and tackles for losses (four) while adding an interception – which he returned 91 yards – two pass break-ups, and a fumble recovery. He also had seven special teams stops.

He has appeared in four postseason contests, starting one, gathering four tackles and two forced fumbles.

Mundy has appeared in all 16 games in each of his first five NFL seasons after entering the league as a sixth round selection (194th overall) by Pittsburgh in 2008 out of West Virginia.
