Calling All Gardeners: Volunteers Needed to Help Beautify Downtown Rockford

ROCKFORD - Calling all gardeners: your green thumb is needed downtown.

Rockford Sharefest volunteers are busy digging in the dirt to beatify the area. They're planting some 3,000 plants downtown, and will be doing so over the next several days.

Organizers hope the project will attract more people to come see what downtown has to offer.

"We're just really hoping to make this area beautiful and continue to encourage people to come down to the downtown area and hope that spurs something on," says Lisa Thompson, Sharefest team leader.

Sharefest is a group effort between Heartland Church and downtown Rockford. If you'd like to volunteer, click here.
