Camp Questions

Scott Leber covers the top five questions facing the Bears as they prepare to report to Bourbonnais.
ROCKFORD-THE BEARS WILL REPORT TO BOURBONNAIS THURSDAY FOR THE START OF TRAINING CAMP. THERE ARE FIVE MAJOR QUESTION MARKS THAT'LL NEED TO BE ANSWERED.

START AT LINEBACKER WHERE YOU'VE GOT LANCE BRIGSS AND A WHOLE BUNCH OF QUESTION MARKS.  D.J. WILLIAMS WILL MOST LIKELY GET ONE OF THE OTHER STARTING JOBS BASED ON HIS EXPERIENCE.  BUT YOU STILL DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU HAVE IN JONATHAN BOSTIC, KHASSEM GREEN OR SHEA MCCLELLIN.

ANOTHER BIG QUESTION MARK IS SAFETY. THE BEARS ADDED SOME CANDIDATES THERE WHEN THEY SIGNED FREE AGENTS MD JENNINGS AND RYAN MUNDY, AND THEY DRAFTED BROCK VEREEN.  CHRIS CONTE'S BACK.  BUT NONE OF THOSE FOUR GUYS HAS PRO BOWL POTENTIAL WRITTEN ON HIM.  THIS COULD BE ANOTHER HUGE WEAK SPOT.

THEN THERE'S THE DEFENSIVE LINE WHICH SHOULD BE STRONGER WITH THE ADDITION OF JARED ALLEN, WILLIE YOUNG, AND LAMARR HOUSTON THROUGH FREE AGENCY AND TWO HIGH DRAFT PICKS.  BUT NO ONE KNOWS HOW THEY'LL MESH TOGETHER WITH JARED RATLIFFE AND STEPHEN PAEA.  ARE THESE GUYS JUST A COLLECTION OF MEDIOCRE PLAYERS AND OTHER TEAM'S CASTOFFS, OR CAN THEY FORM A SOLID FRONT?

THE ONE QUESTION ON THE OFFENSIVE SIDE OF THE BALL IS DO THE BEARS HAVE A CAPABLE BACKUP BEHIND JAY CUTLER?  JOSH MCCOWN WAS THAT GUY.  CAN JORDAN PALMER OR JIMMY CLAUSEN BE THAT GUY THIS YEAR?

THEY ALSO HAVE TO REPLACE DEVIN HESTER IN THE RETURN GAME.  ERIC WEEMS AND MICHAEL SPURLOCK ARE THE CANDIDATES THERE.
