Crusaders Turn In Pads 11/05/12

<br>The reality of the end of their football season began to sink in for the Lutheran Crusaders Monday.
Rockford, Illinois-It began to sink in for Lutheran's football players Monday. Their season is over.

The Crusaders turned in their helmets and pads after school ended. They were knocked out of the playoffs Saturday when they lost at Aledo Mercer County. Two key injuries to Tarence Roby and Jake Milbourn helped derail the Crusaders playoff run.

The disappointment of their playoff loss will linger with the Crusaders for a while. But what a turn around season it was.  After struggling for so many years in the Big Northern Conference, and winning only two games as recently as last year, these Crusaders won nine games and a share of the Big Northern West Championship.

"What these kids did is phenomenal," says head coach Bruce Bazsali. "These kids stuck with it. They had a great committment and the just did a great, great job of wanting to turn this thing around."

Things look good for next season.  The Crusaders will return nine starters on defense and five on offense.
