BOONE CO. - A Belvidere man learns getting behind the wheel after a few drinks is a very bad idea.
Adan Avila-Vazquez, 33, received ten years in prison for DUI charges. In August, Avila-Vazquez was found passed out in his car at a home on Wynnwood Drive. His car engine was running.
The homeowner did not know why Avila-Vazquez was in his driveway.
After police woke him up, Avila-Vazquez failed his field sobriety tests. After being booked, police learned he had two outstanding warrants for prior drunk driving charges dating back to 2007 and 2008.
Avila-Vazquez was charged with aggravated DUI for having a total of six prior offenses.
