Eyewitness News Reporter Phillip Reed Takes a Ride with the Thunderbirds

Rockford- An Eyewitness News reporter gets the experience of a lifetime
Rockford- The Thunderbirds has arrived for Airfest 2014. I got a chance to ride with them. Major Mike Fisher from the U.S Air Force Thunderbirds explains who they are saying "the Thunderbirds are a team that recruit retain, and represent, and we represent the pride, precision and professionalism, of all  700,000 total airmen that we have, that's active duty, guards, civil service and reserve components of the Air Force."

From the Chicago Rockford tarmac, Major Mike Fisher flew me 18,000 feet in the air in a Lockheed Martin F-16. Fisher says "we showed you all the amazing things the airmen can do, but not just that, the amazing things our airmen can do when they put on the uniform and go to work"

Those visiting Airfest this weekend can experience the same awesome experience I had safely from their seats. Fisher says "it's great to be able to give folks an inside glimpse into an institution, the military, the Air Force that they may not have a whole lot of interaction with, and so it's great to come out to places like Rockford, where there's not a military installation and show them the amazing things that our airmen do ever single day."
