From Underdogs To Top Dogs

Fred Van Vleet knows that Wichita State won't catch anyone by surprise this year in the NCAA Tournament.
ROCKFORD-Fred Van Vleet and the Wichita State Shockers will try to prove that their number one seed in the Midwest Region is no fluke. And they'll try to prove that that their 34-0 record is legit.

That can only happen if the Shockers make another deep run in the NCAA Tournament. Unlike last season when the Shockers were a nine seed, they won't catch anyone by surprise this time.

"Somebody's trying to give us our first loss this year," says Van Vleet. "When you stop and think about that that's pretty amazing. The one seed and our record will definitely put another target on our back, but we'll be ready for it. We'll be prepared, and we're not being the hunted anymore. We're the hunters and we'll be in attack mode."

The Shockers will play Friday in St. Louis against the winner of Wednesday's play-in game between Cal Poly and Texas Southeran.
