Harlem-Hononegah Preview 9/27/12

<br>Harlem will take on Hononegah Friday in our high school football game of the week.
Rockton, Illinois-It's a game that has a lot riding on it.

"It's got tremendous playoff implications as well as maybe second place in the standings in the conference at the end of the year," says Harlem Coach Jim Morrow.

Both teams are 4-1. Each has lost to Boylan. The last time they met was in the first round of the playoffs last year. Harlem won that game 41-31. Harlem has won nine of the last ten meetings between these schools.

"They've had our number quite a few times over the last eight to nine years. They're always ready to play us, and we need to make sure our players this year are ready from the start of this game," says Hononegah Coach Tim Sughroue.

Offense is the strength of these two teams. Running back Kevin Witcik might be the best running back in the conference.

"He's a fantastic runner, big and strong," says Sughroue.

"He's getting a lot more of the load this year and doing a great job of carrying and taking care of the ball," says Morrow.

Hononegah will counter with a three-back attack and a ground game that has been unstoppable since the first half of the season opener at Boylan.

"They're very efficient at what they do," says Morrow. "They get you with some power and that's our number one concern."

"We think they have three equally good running backs, so we have to treat each equally," says Harlem linebacker A.J. Wentland.

"I feel like they're going to try to beat us with their size, because they have a couple big guys on their defensive line, but we just have to fire out low and beat them," says Hononegah offensive lineman David Edwards.
