Homeowners Get Help in the Stateline

Rockford is going through a foreclosure crisis, but a local bank is giving homeowners the information they need to not lose their properties.
ROCKFORD- This week the Fifth Third Bank E-Bus Tour comes to the Rockford region to give financial advice to residents of the community.

"It’s not our goal to foreclosure on anyone we really want to help those individuals. So I encourage those individuals to reach out to their mortgage company. Also, Home Start is a local community based organization in the area that provides consulting," says Raymond Irizarry, Community Development Manager for Fifth Third Bank.

Many people see the economic situation as a good opportunity to get into the housing market.

"Homes have drop in prices dramatically is terrible in this area. Homes that were once valued at $150 thousand are now selling for $60 or $70 thousand. On the good side, I think if you are trying to get a property now is the perfect time to buy," says Daryl Joseph, who has lived in Rockford for more than 20 years.

On Saturday April 12 the tour bus will be from 9am to 3pm at the Blackhawk Boys and Girls Club.
