Hononegah-Boylan Preview 8/23/12

Scott Leber previews our first Game Of The Week between Hononegah and Boylan.
Rockford, Illinois-We'll find out right away if Boylan is still head and shoulders above everyone else in the NIC-10. This game Friday night will tell us.

"I think we all understand the how important this first game is," said Boylan Coach John Cacciatore. "They understand up North how important that game is."

Can the Titans continue to add to their remarkable 56 game conference winning streak? Or will a change in coaches and more importantly the loss of an incredible senior class from last year cause a drop-off in the Titans' play?

"I think the coaches are just going to carry on with what happened," said Hononegah Coach Tim Sughroue. "I don't think they're going to skip much of a beat. They've been solid at the lower levels every year. In that whole program if they lose a game it's a shocker down there."

The Titans will be led by speedy back DeMarcus Vines, and by heady running back/safety Peter Cimino, and a group of juniors that went unbeaten last year as sophomores.

Hononegah will counter with a very deep roster and more speed and potential game makers than it's had in a long time.

"I'm as excited as ever to play them this year," said Hononegah senior lineman David Edwards. "

"Hononegah has a great team," said Boylan safety Peter Cimino. "They always have a great program. So we're definitely coming out really focused this year."

Hononegah hasn't beaten Boylan in football since 2004.

"The programs are going to have to get better to beat then, and that's what we're trying to do," said Sughroue.

"We have nothing but respect for those guys," said Cacciatore. "It adds to the intensity and adds to the pressure. You've got to be ready.
