Hononegah School District Passes The Test

Hononegah School District scores high in statewide test scores
The Hononegah School District and its feeder schools produce the best test scores in the state.

Hononegah Superintendent Lynn Gibson says “we have areas that we still need to focus on and wok on, but we are pleased to see that our scores are in the shape that they’re in at this point.

The High school is its own district. It takes students in from four feeder primary school districts including Prairie Hill, Rockton, Shirland and Kinnikinnick. It sounds disjointed, but Gibson says they all work closely.

“the way it looks is that each district is separate, but we have the collaborative teams that comes together both on curriculum and as I talked about superintendents to make sure that we’re doing the best job that we can because we do all share the same families.”

Prairie Hill principal Kevin Finnegan agrees. He says it works because the school is a huge part of the community.

Finnegan says “there are parents here everyday. You can not walk these halls without seeing parents. Sixty percent of our staff are community members. They’re here, they’re invested.

The district wants to make sure the elementary kids are prepared when they get to Hononegah High School.
