Hunger Walk Raised Thousands Of Dollars For Local Pantries

The Rockford area crop hunger walk celebrated their success Sunday after raising thousands of dollars in October for Stateline food pantries.
ROCKFORD- On Sunday, February 23, the Rockford Crop Hunger Movement received a check in the amount of $11,210.97. The funds were generated from the Rockford Crop Hunger Walk-A-Thon, which was held during the month of October.  Overall, the Walk-A-Thon raised over $44,000. David Jones, a member of the Crop Hunger Movement said, “we raised $11,210.97 precisely and we will be giving this check to the Greater Rockford Pantry Coalition today.”

Julia Jones, an active member in the fight against global hunger said, “the Rockford area Crop Hunger Walk raised over $44,000.00 last Fall and that fights hunger locally and globally as well.”

According to the Crop Hunger group, 870 million people from around the world go to bed hungry every night.  Some of those people are right here in Winnebago County.  Many Stateline pantries see over 200 families each night they are open.
