Charlotte, NC- Jimmie Johnson claimed his first checkered flag of 2014 at Charlotte Motor Speedway Sunday night. Johnson won the 55th running of the Coca-Cola 600. Johnson passed Matt Kenseth with nine laps to go in NASCAR’s longest race. Kenseth finished third. Johnson also won the pole Thursday night and led 165 of 400 laps in the Coca-Cola 600. Kevin Harvick placed second in the race. After finishing sixth in the Indianapolis 500, Kurt Busch attempted to become the second driver in history to complete a double header. However, his attempt ended with 129 laps to go when he blew and engine. Danica Patrick’s hopes of winning ended at Lap 220 after losing a cylinder and her engine finally expired on 281.
