UPDATE -- Kody Walsh has been found guilty of murder by the jury. He will be sentenced April 7th and could face up to life in prison
ROCKFORD - Kody Walsh's fate lays in the hands of the jury as closing statements have been given, and deliberation is underway. Walsh is facing first degree murder charges in the death of Lori Daniels.
The jury has been deliberating since 1:30 p.m. on Monday March 3, 2014. The fate of Kody Walsh rests in the jurors hands as they determine whether or not he murdered Lori Daniels. Lawyers on both sides gave their closing arguments to the jury Monday.
Kody Walsh's attorney says his client is not responsible for the death of Lori Daniels and that prosecutors are going after the wrong guy. He said Walsh and Ebert Davidson were giving Lori Daniels a ride back to Beloit after leaving a Rockford bar in September of 2012. The defense claims Walsh's friend, Ebert Davidson, was the one who shot daniels in the head.
Meanwhile, the prosecutors spoke to the jury about Walsh's character saying he is the criminal. Deputy State's Attorney Marilyn Hite Ross said Walsh looks at the whole situation as a show, and he does not care who his actions effected. Hite-Ross said Walsh deserves to be in prison for the death of for Lori Daniels.
