ROCKFORD - A local food pantry gets a big boost thanks to Wal-Mart.

The grocery store giant donated $150 thousand to Northern Illinois Food Bank.

The money will go toward purchasing a new truck. Food bank officials say with the 60 thousand stateliners they serve each week, it's important they have a reliable mode of delivery.

"We have 18 trucks on the road every day and keeping that fleet reliable and efficient is extremely important to our operation to help feed our hungry neighbors," said Hester Bury, Northern Illinois Food Bank.

Wal-Mart employees also were on hand volunteering, Thursday. They help make up the more than 14 thousand volunteers who commit their time to Northern Illinois Food Bank each year.
