Local TV Show Pilot looking for Actors, Donations

A local TV production company hopes to make it big with a locally produced show featuring a big name actor, all through crowd-source funding.

Rockford, Ill- A new TV show that will be filmed right here in the Stateline, hopes to make a buzz in the community

"A Rock and a Hard Place" is the brain-child of local actor Darren Marlar. The family-friendly show is meant to bring back wholesome television while also highlighting Stateline areas.

“A Rock and a Hard Place” follows the life of a widowed Pastor who suddenly inherits the bar directly across the street from the church. Marlar says it’ll be a mix of comedy and values.

"I want to show us breaking down boundaries of racism and denominationalism, just because somebody believes different than you doesn't make them less human, Marlar said."

Marlar also plans to use local actors who may work right alongside the main character, Hollywood actor Stephen Baldwin.

The show requires significant funding. Marlar has started a Kickstarter campaign to raise money for the endeavour. Kickstarter uses community donations to fund creative projects. Marlar hopes to raise more than $50,000.
