Lutheran Hangs On Over Rochelle

The Lutheran Crusaders overcame a late fumble to hang on against Rochelle.
The Rockford Lutheran Crusaders hung on to edge the Rochelle Hubs 27-22 in the second round.

The two teams traded scores from their explosive offenses in the second half. Crusaders running back James Robinson and the Hubs' Evan White showed off the combination of speed and power that made them two of the best backs in the area.

It looked like the Crusaders would advance with a lead and the ball in the fourth quarter, but Robinson coughed up a rare fumble with less than a minute left to give the Hubs a final chance. The Crusader defense bent but refused to break, batting away the game-winning score with just seconds remaining.

The Crusaders will host the No. 2 seed Harvard Hornets in their quarterfinal contest.
