Robert Dofflemyer Wins Men's Classic 8/4/13

Robert Dofflemyer maintained his impressive lead during the final round of the Rockford Men's Golf Classic, his first time winning the event.
Although he came on late in the summer, Robert Dofflemyer might have put on the most impressive performance of the 2013 golf season.

Dofflemyer created an impressive five stroke lead after the first weekend of the Rockford Men's Golf Classic, but quickly proved he wasn't just a flash in the pan. Dofflemyer extended his lead on the tournament's third day at Ingersoll Golf Course, then finished the job at Aldeen Golf Club.

Dofflemyer held off a group of young competitors. Fellow collegiate golfers Patipan Pipatpinyopong, Kevin Flack and Corey Konieczki finished in the top 5, and Boylan senior Daniel Gorman rounded out the group.

Dofflemyer admitted that winning the tournament had always been a dream, but it wasn't until recently that he had enough confidence in his game to think it was a realistic goal.
