Rockford Airport Makes Moves On New Project

A new project could be the boost the airport has been looking for.
ROCKFORD - The Chicago/Rockford International Airport is always looking for ways to improve and draw in more travelers.

AAR Corp will open a new jet repair and maintenance center will open at the airport in early 2016. This new facility would employ around 500 people. The estimated cost is around $40 million and the building will be close to 20,000 square feet.  The airport, the City of Rockford, and Winnebago County will fund half of the bill while the state and federal funds cover the rest.

The airport will hold a press conference to give more information on the project at 10:30am Monday.
