Roof Leaks Problematic for Stateline Homeowners

This brutal winter weather is causing all sorts of damage to roads, cars and most expensively homes.

ROCKFORD- Massive pot holes, standing water and leaky roofs; the thawing ice and snow have Lask Roofing and Siding at 1101 22nd Street, Rockford swamped.

"I would say our phones have been ringing off the hook. It’s constant ice and snow removal, lots of leaks going on," said Lask Roofing and Siding Vice President Toby Lask.

They called ice dams and form when ice and snow builds up on roofs and then melts.

"What happens is everything draining down off that roof needs somewhere to go, and with that ice blocking where it's suppose to go it starts moving in a negative direction. And that's when people get that ice dam leak that we refer to," said Lask.

He advises that homeowners should get the area where water has seeped in as dry as possible, and then call a professional.

And with cold weather on its way the Stateline isn't quite out of winter, so there's still a chance for leaks.

"As long as we don't get any big snow storms, or accumulation this hopefully will be the end of it," said Lask.
