Steve Staeger - WTVO / FOX 39 Capitol Bureau Chief

Steve Staeger joined the WTVO / FOX 39 news team in February 2010. He comes to the Springfield newsroom from Detroit, Michigan, his hometown. He spent nearly two years as an associate producer on the morning show at WDIV-TV, Detroit's NBC affiliate. He played a role in coverage of Detroit's mayoral scandal, the bankruptcy of GM and Chrysler, and more recently, the Christmas Day terror attempt at Detroit's Metro airport.

Steve graduated from Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan, in 2008 with a double major in Journalism and Communication. During his four years at Oakland, Steve was actively involved at the campus radio station and newspaper, and interned at WWJ radio, Detroit's all-news radio station. Steve got into the business because he loves learning something new and doing something new every day. He also loves meeting new people and telling their stories.

When he's not covering the capital city you can usually find him on the golf course or at the movie theater. He loves to check out restaurants around town or relax at home and cook. He's a hockey fan and enjoys watching the Detroit Red Wings (although the Blues and Blackhawks aren't bad). Steve also loves spending time with his girlfriend, friends and family.
