Stillman Wins State Thriller

The Cardinals won an incredible game in overtime of the 3A state finals.

Stillman Valley came back from a late deficit and won in overtime, edging St. Joseph Ogden 43-41 in the 3A finals.

The Cardinals rode their steady ground game to the win. They ran the ball 66 times, finishing with 312 yards and scoring all six of their touchdowns on the ground. Fullback Zac Hare was at his best, running for 174 yards and four touchdowns on a rugged 39 total carries. He scored the game-winner in overtime from two yards out, and then converted the two-point attempt that ended up being the difference in the game.

There were six lead changes in the game. It was the first game of the 2013 finals to reach overtime, and the 84 total points were also the most to be scored on the first day of action.
