Philadelphia- Anything can happen in the NHL draft and no one knows that better than Blackhawks forward Brandon Bollig. The Blackhawks traded Bollig to the Calgary Flames Saturday for the 83rd overall pick in the NHL draft. Bollig had seven goals and seven assists in 82 games in the 2013-14 season. The Blackhawks signed him to a three-year contract extension in March but he had a tough playoff run with only one assist in fifteen playoff games. Bollig has a cap hit of $1.25 million for the next three years. Trading him gives the Hawks some necessary cap relief to extend other players' contracts. The Hawks used their 83rd pick to select American Winger Matt Iacopelli from the Muskegon Lumberjacks.
