Aviators Sign Veteran Southpaw

The Rockford Aviators signed left-handed relief pitcher Justin Albert to their 2014 roster.
LOVES PARK, IL - The Rockford Aviators, presented by Pearson, have announced the signing of left-handed relief pitcher, Justin Albert to the 2014 roster.

Albert is no stranger to the Frontier League.  During the 2012 season, he spent time with both the Normal Cornbelters and the Joliet Slammers where he combined for a 2-3 record with a 3.82 ERA.

"An agent called me about Justin and we've been talking to him for a few weeks" said Aviators Manager, James Frisbie.  "He is an experienced lefty in this league and in affiliated ball and should be strong out of the bullpen for us this season."

After being signed to the Arizona Diamondbacks organization as a free agent in 2009, Albert spent time bouncing between Rookie League and Low-A.  His best season came in 2011 with the Yakima Bears, the Low-A affiliate of the Diamondbacks, where he posted a 5-1 record with a 2.17 ERA and also picked up five saves.

Albert graduated from the University of Vermont in 2009 with a degree in Sociology.
