UPDATE: Truck Driver Accused Of Accidentally Killing Tollway Worker Enters Plea

AURORA - A truck driver is charged in the death of an Illinois Tollway worker.
UPDATE (3/3/14): Velasquez pleaded not guilty Monday in a DuPage County Courtroom.

AURORA - A multi-vehicle crash kills one and injures another on I-88 near Naperville, closing the intersection.

A truck driver is now charged with the death of an Illinois Tollway employee. Renato Velasquez of Hanover Park is now charged with operating a CMV while fatigued and driving beyond the 11 and 14-hour rules.

He’s also charged with failing to reduce speed and failure to yield to a stationary emergency vehicle.

A section of the eastbound lanes on Interstate 88 were shut down Monday evening at Aurora after an accident caused by a semi-tractor-trailer truck injured an Illinois State Police Trooper and killed a State Tollway Driver. The Illinois Tollway identified the worker as 39-year-old Vincent Petrella, while the trooper suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries. As of early this morning, the eastbound lanes between Farnsworth and Eola are still blocked off.

And the Tollway has issued a statement.

"Vincent was an equipment operator laborer for the illinois tollway since 2005, but began his career as a toll collector. Vincent was a hard-working, family man and father of two who was committed to doing his best each day to serve our customers on the tollway."
