ROCKFORD - We start this morning with developing news from the west side overnight. A driver trying to elude Rockford Police, crashed a SUV and took off on foot.

The accident happened around 10:30 last night at the intersection of West and Morgan. Police say, after a maroon SUV rolled through a stop sign, they turned on their lights to alert them to pull over. But that's when the SUV took off and later crashed. The suspect  driver then ran off on foot.

Extrication was needed for the driver of  the other vehicle. That person was taken to an area hospital and is listed in critical condition.
