UPDATE: Woman Stabbed To Death At Downtown Rockford Bus Station

A Rockford woman is accused of murder for stabbing another woman to death at a Rockford Mass Transit District (RMTD) bus terminal.

UPDATE (3/18/14): The Winnebago Co. Coroner confirms that McGee was not pregnant

UPDATE (VIDEO) – Friends of Achaiah McGee talk with Eyewitness News about the incident where the 21-year-old woman died.

The woman accused of killing her, Jeanette Short, faces two counts of 1st degree murder and one of aggravated battery. Her next appearance in court is on April 17.  

UPDATE- The name of the homicide victim from Saturday's stabbing has been identified. According to the Winnebago County Coroner's Office Achaiah Tyashay McGee, 21, died as a result of an apparent stab wound to her chest. McGee was pronounced dead at Rockford Memorial Hospital at 10:39 AM Saturday. An autopsy will be performed tomorrow.

ROCKFORD- One woman is dead and another in custody tonight  after a fight breaks out on Rockford's westside.

It happened around
10 Saturday morning at the RMTD bus terminal on West State and Mulberry.

Police say the two women were fighting when one of them pulled out a knife and stabbed the other in the chest. The victim was taken to a hospital where she later died.

Police arrested
28-year-old Jeanette Short not long after. She's charged with aggravated battery. She's being held without bond.
