DEKALB - A 10 year-old boy is in the hospital after suffering significant injuries after a car accident.

Nathan Scherer sustained two broken legs, two broken wrists, and a rib injury after a car driven by Wesley James, 22, blew a stop sign at the intersection of Somonauk and Suydam Roads.

Police say James t-boned a minivan driven by Ronda Scherer.  The force of the impact forced both into a ditch.  James was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from his vehicle.

Nathan had to be extricated from the minivan.  He was flown to Rockford Memorial Hospital.  Nathan's brother, Branden, was also in the vehicle.  He and Ronda Scherer were treated and released from Valley West Hospital.

James' condition is unknown at this time.  He's been cited for disobeying a stop sign and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.
