WASHINGTON - Emergency Management officials assess the damage caused by last weekend's tornadoes in central Illinois.

They're starting in one of the hardest hit towns of Washington.  The information they get will be used by the state when it makes a request for federal disaster assistance.  At least 15 tornadoes rolled through the area, destroying or damaging hundreds of buildings.  Six people died.

Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) spoke on the senate floor in Washington, D.C. Thursday about the tornadoes and offered his condolences to those affected.  he says he'll tour the damage in Washington Friday.

Also, Gov. Pat Quinn (D) declared two more counties as disaster areas: Vermilion and Fayette.
