Gas Prices Up, Government Shutdown Could Drive It Higher

ROCKFORD - Gas prices are on the rise.

ROCKFORD - Gas prices are on the rise.

GasBuddy.com reports the average price for regular, unleaded fuel in Rockford is now $3.38 per gallon, increasing six cents in the past week.

Nationwide they're paying on average less than Stateline drivers, chiming in at $3.37 per gallon.

"While gasoline prices continue to drop at a slow pace, they remain a whopping .40 cents per gallon under prices a year ago" says Senior Petroleum Analyst, Patrick DeHaan.

With the government shutdown still going on, DeHaan says the government report on changes in supply and demand will not be released.  He warns that could add volatility to the market.
