Golf Regionals

Local golf teams tried to take a step toward the State Tournament.
ROCKFORD-In ideal conditions local high school golfers teed it up Tuesday for Regional action. It was the first step on the road to State.  The top three teams in each Regional would advance to Sectional play.

At the 1A Christian Life Regional at Elliot Golf Course in Rockford Byron won with a 315 total. Senior Dan Lowe of Byron earned medalist honors by shooting a 77. Oregon finished in second place as a team, and Rockford Christian took third to advance to Sectionals.

At the 1A Galena Regional Stockton won led by medalist Trey Timpe. He shot a 76. Morrison took second place and Le-Win third.

At the 2A Belvidere North Regional Boylan won the  team championship by 32 strokes over Marengo. Winnebago took third place. Boylan senior Danny Gorman was the medalist with a 75 at the Timber Pointe Golf Club.

At the 2A LaSalle-Peru Regional Sterling came out on top by six strokes over Rock Falls. Dixon finished third.

At the 3A Woodstock North Regional Hononegah finished third to clinch at trip to Sectionals.
