Hogs To Play Morning Game

The IceHogs will face off with Abbotsford at 11 a.m. Wednesday.
ROCKFORD-The IceHogs will have to rise and shine Wednesday. They'll play an 11 a.m. game against the Abbotsford Heat at the BMO. It's a special kids day game. Middle School students from Rockford will be bused in for the game.

The IceHogs normally practice at 11 a.m., so this game time won't be a huge adjustment for them. But head coach Ted Dent says the pregame warmup will be important.

"I think the warmup is huge," says Dent. Especially for LaBarbera (goaltender Jason LaBarbera) making sure he fields pucks, and we're not shooting at his head in the warmup, because we don't have a morning skate those are the first pucks he'll see."

Because the students at the game will have to be back on their buses at 1:15 p.m. to return to their schools the IceHogs will do everything they can to speed up the game. The intermissions will only be 15 minutes long instead of the normal 20 minutes. And there will be fewer timeouts during the game.
