Hononegah - Harlem Game of the Week Preview

The Huskies and Indians have a matchup with big implications.

At 4-2 and 5-1 respectively, Hononegah and Harlem again sit comfortably amongst the top NIC-10 teams. With playoff seeding looming a win helps them now and later in the year.

“We are very hungry," said Hononegah running back Alex Martin. "I would say our goal right now is to finish up the season with no more losses and get to the playoffs where we can make our run there.”

“There is playoff positioning right now," Hononegah head coach Tim Sughroue admitted. "Both teams are looking to get a win and get a better pairing for the playoffs.”

Both teams might be more potent now than ever – Harlem’s cast of first year starters led by quarterback Tanner DiGiovanni has evolved. “He’s making very good decisions, he’s making the right decisions with the ball and just improving every time," agreed Huskies defensive back Josh Egelston.

And after 2 early disappointing losses, the Indians are now firing on all cylinders. Their roster still isn't completely healthy, but they're getting the most out of the guys left on the field. “The bottom line is, we got kids that fight and compete, and we’re pleased with the way they’re going out and competing," Sughroue said.

Regardless of the outcome, both of these teams are headed to the playoffs. The competitive atmosphere and matchup will allow both schools to get ready for what lies ahead. “It’s good to have these games against Hononegah who has been in the playoffs
for many years themselves," said Harlem head coach Jim Morrow. "It’s just always a benefit for us and hopefully we can pull this one out.”
