Icy Roads Wreak Havoc on the Stateline

The conditions were so bad tonight, that police eventually closed off roads. Loves Park Police Department closed Harlem east of Perryville. At one point, Route 173 was backed up for miles west of Caledonia.

In Ogle County, parts of highways IL-2, IL-72, and IL-64 have been shut down due to ice.

In Winnebago County, Hamborg Road from the Village of Roscoe to the Boone County line is closed. Kishwaukee Road near Southbend is closed.

State troopers are now utilizing snow mobiles in the area of Moate Road and Route 70, and county roads in Roscoe, and parts of Stephenson County to assist stranded motorists.

Flooding has also been reported in the area of Clover Street in Rockford.

Police officers throughout the area have been dealing with accidents all night. Eyewitness News is learning that most of them did not produce any serious injuries.

As of 8:30pm, every Rockford police officer was on the scene of an accident, and 40 were still backlogged.
