Rockford, Illinois-Rockford native Jeff Kellen is tied for 19th after the first round of the Illinois Open Golf Tournament.  He shot a one under par 71 Monday at The Glen Club in Glenview.

The tournament is 54 holes of stroke play over three days. 156 players were entered.  After 36 holes of play the field will be cut to the low 50 scorers and ties.

The Illinois Open is open to all PGA Members, Apprentices, golf professionals and amateurs with a handicap index of 10.0 or less who are legal residents of Illinois.

David Paeglow of DeKalb is also 1 under par. Nicholas Huggins of DeKalb is tied for 31st at even par. They are the only Stateline golfers in the competition.

Kellen turned pro two years ago. He graduated from Lutheran High School, and he also played golf at Illinois State University.
