Illinois to Help Rockford Businesses Increase Their International Competitiveness

ROCKFORD - Illinois helping Rockford businesses increase their international competitiveness.

The Rockford Area Economic Development Council hosting a trade mission program Wednesday morning. The idea is to get small and medium sized businesses signed up for grant money to attend overseas trade shows in the coming year.

Illinois supports 21 trade missions overseas, and RAEDC says it's important businesses take advantage of the program, "We would like to grow that," says Carrie Zethmayr of RAEDC. "We'd like to see more companies in the Rockford region taking advantage of these unique federal and state grant programs to grow their international sales."

Delegation will be focused on 14 different industries including manufacturing, health care and higher education.
