Matt brings his Emmy Award-winning reporting to Eyewitness News after spending nearly a decade in Chicago television. You can watch Matt every weekday morning on Eyewitness News at 5am. He is also the show’s executive producer.
He started his journalism career in radio as a morning anchor and sports radio host for ESPN Radio in Indianapolis. Since moving back to Illinois, Matt has contributed to the Chicago Tribune, ESPN 1000, and currently for 670 The Score.
Matt begin a full-time career in television as the traffic and transportation reporter for NBC Chicago in 2006, where he was a part of 10 Emmy nominations and 4 Emmy Awards for his work on the Chicago Marathon and Chicago Auto Show broadcasts, and for his feature work as well.
He’s also a mainstay on IHSA broadcasts statewide as the studio host and sideline reporter for the football and basketball state championships on My Network TV. Matt has also contributed online and on the air as a play-by-play announcer, and sports writer for outlets across Northern Illinois.
Growing up down the road in Geneva, Matt was the senior class president and a 3-sport athlete at Geneva Community High School. He graduated from Indiana University with a BA in Journalism in 2002.
He married his wife Lindy in 2011.
