You could see the lines forming. Hispanics waiting eagerly to get forms of identification.

Mary Lou Castro of Lulac of Rockford says "the Mexican Consulate is providing service to the Hispanics in the Mexican community in order to get their passports and photo identifications.

That identification will be greatly needed for some in the fall.

Castro says "for the license which is coming out the first of November, that's where they are going to give out the application for the new licenses for undocumented. They won't accept anything else but the passport."

Stateliner Blanca Cuerva and her family took advantage of the opportunity to get their passports in Rockford. They hope to avoid any future hassles.

Cuerva says "everywhere you go, they're asking you for Identification, so if you don't have one, people who don't know who you are, or where you from."

Mary Lou Castro is hoping this gives Hispanics more recognition around the Stateline. She wants officials to devote more time to the local Hispanic community.

Castro says "it is helpful for them to be out here so they can understand the culture and better understand the Spanish community."
